Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, with its headquarters at Bloomington in Illinois is a mutual insurance firm that also owns the other State Farm companies and is in turn owned by the State Farm Insurance Company, which is a group of insurance and financial services companies. State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company was founded on June 7, 1922, by George J. Mecherle, who was a retired farmer. The company initially concentrated on meeting auto insurance needs of farmers in Illinois through a mutual organization owned by the clients. Mecherle, the founder of the company, believed that farmers drive less than city drivers and hence should be allowed to pay less for insurance since the losses they had was fewer. The idea was accepted well by the farmer community and hence the popularity of the firm increased rapidly.

In 1942, the company became the nation’s largest auto insurer and from then on, the company has held on to that rank. According to statistics, about one out of every five cars on the road is insured with State Farm Automobile Insurance Company. Since then, State Farm has expanded its services into other popular types of insurance.

State Farm now has about 67,000 employees and 17,000 agents servicing 77 million policies in the United States and Canada, and have more than 1.9 million bank accounts served by their client base. State Farm is insuring about 40 million vehicles and the company announced last year that it will pay $1.25 billion in dividends to its mutual auto insurance policyholders.

Edward B. Rust, Jr. is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, and president and chief executive officer of State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, State Farm Life Insurance Company, and other principal State Farm affiliates. Edward B. Rust, Jr. holds these positions since 1885, succeeding his late father Edward B. Rust, Sr. Mr.Rust is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, and holds master of business degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.

The company prescribes a “code of conduct for its employees, which summarises the Company policies, rules, and guidelines. It helps the employees in decision making and to make the right choices. A strict “code of conduct” doesn’t mean the employees are under any sort of strain because if we consider the awards and recognition, State Farm is a great place to work. State Farm was ranked among the “40 Best Companies for Diversity” and “15 Best in Marketing Diversity” in Black Enterprise Magazine’s 2007 rankings. In 1986 the company had passed the 100$ billion mark, almost doubling the figure in five years. State Farm went online in 1895, thus joining the internet revolution. In 1999, the 70th anniversary of the Company was celebrated in a grand way as the agents wrote a total of 1 million life insurance applications that year. The Good Neighbor Grant Program was introduced by state Farm in 2000 and was a huge success. A facility to serve Canadian customers was opened in Toronto in 2006 and the same year promoted a feature film ” the Disney/Pixar animated feature film, CARS.

Arizona House Insurance Quotes — Paying Far Less

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Would you like a more affordable rate while maintaining sufficient Arizona home owner’s insurance coverage? Here are things that will help you get big discounts without difficulty…

1. Dead-bolt locks on all your exterior doors will help you attract a lower rate. This makes it hard for intruders or burglars to break in. And because a home’s risk of burglary is a major factor in calculating your Arizona homeowner insurance premiums, you’ll spend far less.

2. If you can buy an umbrella policy and then cut down your home liability coverage you will save a lot. The added advantage here is that even though you’ll spend much less, you will also get superior coverage.

Home liability coverage is to cater for people who get injured on your property. Lawsuits that may arise from such injury claims are as well covered. But like all things in insurance, there’s a limit to the amount that is covered and your homeowners’ liability coverage might not be enough.

However, there are very few (if any) lawsuits that an umbrella insurance policy won’t give you coverage from completely.

3. Installing a sprinkler will get you big discounts. The reason for this is that a sprinkler system does a fine job of suppressing fires. It is slightly costly so you’ll do yourself a lot good to ask your agent what you will save if you have this fixed.

4. Since nothing stays the same for ever, it’s a smart idea to re-evaluate your Arizona homeowner’s insurance policy from periodically to be certain you neither pay more than you should nor have inadequate coverage. That expensive fur artwork might no longer be worth as much as when you got it.

If it’s now worth less, you’ll then do the sensible thing: Reduce your coverage accordingly and obtain cheaper rates as a result. However, a review may show it’s now worth a lot more and that you need to increase coverage. The good thing, though, is that whichever it turns out to be you will be the better for it.

5. Does your apartment have fire escapes? Do not fail to tell your agent about this or you might miss the discount you are entitled to. Don’t forget to tell your agent even if all your home has as fire escapes are rope ladders. If, on the other hand, you don’t have any fire escape or the right number and kind, you’re possibly losing discounts you should get. And do not fail to ask your agent what your insurer requires as a standard fire escape since complying with that guarantees savings.

6. While you take other steps to cut down your home insurance costs, here’s what to do to get lower rates today. Visit good insurance quotes sites and get quotes. Visit not less than five of such for the best results. It’s free, quick and easy. However, ensure you give your correct details as you fill the questionnaires on each site. Thereafter, just pick the offer that gives you the best price/value from the quotes return.

Mortgage Insurance Cover

Monday, April 27th, 2009

If you’re in the market to buy a home you’ll know that this is probably the most important and significant financial outlay you’ll ever have in your life. What you might not be thinking about is that your hard earned home can be taken away from you in a flash. Of course, we know people can lose them, but we never think it’s going to happen to us.

Mortgage protection insurance can protect you if you lose your job. It also protects you if you become ill or have an accident that keeps you from working. Your mortgage protection insurance ensures that payments of your mortgage will still be met. This means that you can turn your attention to getting well or getting a new job rather than worrying about how your mortgage is going to be paid. Even better, this type of insurance is easy and fairly inexpensive to set up.

How Mortgage Insurance Cover Works

Mortgage protection insurance simply protects you against loss, similar to what your car insurance does for you when you drive or what life insurance does for your loved ones should something happen to you so that they’re protected. Mortgage protection insurance pays your mortgage payments every month, usually for a period of up to 12 months from the date you start using your protection plan. This can be different depending on the cover plan you choose, and depends on your circumstances.

Mortgage Insurance Cover Pricing

Usually, mortgage protection insurance is quite inexpensive. In fact, you can pay as little as 2.15 a month for it. The actual cost of your payment will depend on how old you are, how big your mortgage is, and what type of cover you need.

For example, if you’re 25 and your monthly mortgage payment is 400 a month, it will cost you 8.60 a month for full coverage. At 50 with the same mortgage payments, your payment would be 19.40, so you can see that rates would rise with age.

One benefit to this type of cover is that your payments are backdated to the first day you are unemployed because of your situation, whether it be illness, injury or layoff, for example. Therefore, even if you’ve had to wait a month or two for cover to take effect, the full amount from your original claim will be paid to you or your mortgage company beginning on the first day of eligibility.

Mortgage Insurance Cover If You Are Self-Employed

If you’re someone who works for yourself, you can also take out a mortgage protection insurance plan. However, this type of involuntary unemployment cover will only apply to you if you have had to stop trading permanently, not if you’re having a simple lull in work. However, if this could be you, you should seriously think about taking out mortgage protection insurance.

Would you like cheaperTexas homeowner’s insurance rates? Then you have to commit some time to understand the things you’d have to do to reach your goal. Following are several tips that will help you reduce your rate by as much as 50% if you use them the right way…

1. Fix smoke and fire detectors. Install the right numbers of smoke and fire detectors for your size and type of house if you intend to use this to get cheaper rates. If you have them, always remember to change their batteries twice yearly.

With these fires will be spotted quickly and put off more easily before they can cause any real damage. Don’t forget that anything that reduces the chances of a fire in your house reduces your Texas home owner insurance rate.

2. You will get lower Texas homeowner insurance premiums if you get group home insurance. You can confirm from associations you are part of because they may have group discounts.

I will, nevertheless, advise that you still get and compare quotes from other insurance companies that your association may have no affiliations with. You can find an insurer that your association has no form of affiliations with that gives your profile a far more affordable rate. There’s stiff competition in the home insurance industry and you can take advantage of this to get cheaper rates if you spend some time to do thorough shopping and comparisons.

3. Installing advanced security and fire systems that are monitored round the clock is a smart step. Apart from the peace of mind you’ll have in knowing your home is always been watched by competent professionals, you will enjoy more affordable Texas homeowners’ insurance premiums. This can lower your rate by more than 25% depending on your insurer.

4. Window locks on every window will help you save because they reduce your home’s risk of burglary. You’ll save even much more if you go further to have burglary-proof bars fixed on every window. Even though some folks don’t like this because it makes them feel like a prisoner in their own house, it really does lower your premium by a good amount. Therefore, if you are not bothered by having burglary-proof bars in your house, have them fixed and you’ll pay much less in your Texas home owner’s insurance rate.

5. Ensure that the exterior of your house is fire-safe and your premium will be more affordable. You’ll do well if you don’t have anything that’s inflammable close to your home. Although cutting bushes around your house looks simple, you’ll pay lower Texas home owner’s insurance premiums if you do keep them at a distance of at least ten feet from your structures. The risk of a fire in a house is one very strong factor that influences your home insurance rate.

6. You will save a lot if you do shop around and do detailed comparison. The the difference in quotes presented for a query could be as wide as $1,000 for a particular profile. While this is a good thing, it’s advisable that you don’t get too excited yet. It’s not usually that easy if you’re after the best price/value.

The cheapest price may not offer you the best price/value. Although each of the quotes returned will certainly give you the same main coverage, there could be a lot of differences in the details of coverage. This makes it crucial that you find out if there aren’t any exclusions you won’t like.

Remember to treat these no-obligation quotes just that way. Don’t feel obliged to pay unless you’ve had all your questions answered to your satisfaction. You will saved from rude surprises down the road if you do this.

8 Easy Tips For Buying Cheaper Homeowners Insurance

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

No one likes paying for home insurance but unfortunately it is a necessary evil for most of us. However, this does not mean you have to pay through the nose for it though and so here are 8 very easy tips to lower the cost of your homeowners insurance.

1. Shop around. By comparing prices from a number of insurance companies you will almost certainly be able to lower your premium payments by a substantial amount. This could seem to be obvious, but research suggests that a surprisingly large proportion of people either simply renew their existing plan or ask for just one or two quotes. Many insurance web sites automatically compare dozens of plans for you thereby making this one of the simplest ways to reduce your home insurance bill.

2. Purchase your policy online. If you arrange your plan online you will often find that you can get a discount of up to 20% on regular prices because there are less administration costs involved and the savings made can be passed on to you.

3. Combine both your contents and buildings plans. A lot of insurers will allow you a discount if you take out both forms of home insurance with them and this usually works out cheaper than purchasing the two policies from different companies.

4. Pay upfront. Although the majority of insurance companies let you pay your premiums in monthly installments many of them will charge interest for this. Accordingly, if you can afford to pay a full year’s premium in advance, this will prove cheaper in the long run.

5. Don’t submit claims for small amounts of money. Putting in many small claims might raise your insurance costs because your insurance company may view you as a greater risk and raise your premiums. You may also lose any no claims discount that your policy has. Of course, you’re entitled to submit a claim for anything that your policy covers but you should ask yourself if putting in a small claim is worth the hassle and any consequent future increase in costs.

6. Consider arranging for a high voluntary excess on your plan. Insurance policies feature something which is known as an ‘excess’ and this basically means that the plan will not pay out on claims under a certain value. in some cases if you opt to increase your excess your premiums will be reduced.

7. Increase the security on your home. Increasing your home security with better door locks, window locks, lighting, and alarm systems will often lead to lower premiums.

8. Think about reducing your level of cover. Many policies include benefits that you might not need like cover for personal items while traveling or ‘free’ legal advice. Examine your plan and see what parts of it you really need.

How To Attract A Cheap Arizona Homeowners Insurance Rate

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

It is easy to get very cheap quotes and pay far less for sufficient coverage if you know what to do. I’ll show several steps to take if you want huge discounts that won’t leave you with insufficient coverage…

1. Choosing to pay your rates on a monthly basis results in higher rates than you’d spend if you decide to pay yearly. A major reason for this is the cost an insurance company incurs for posting you 12 bills instead of just one each year.

The cost shoots up if you include the fact that they pay transaction charges for processing each check you give them monthly as payment. They pay transaction fees twelve times instead of once yearly for monthly premiums. And, if you really come to think of it, these additional overheads are eventually added to your Arizona homeowner insurance rates.

You will make reasonable savings if you choose to pay annually. What you’ll save could be as high as 8.5% of your total monthly premiumss over the course of just one year.

2. You’ll pay less if you have motion-sensitive lighting in your home. Your home becomes a no-go area for thieves as they’ll be spotted easily. The risk of burglary is a strong factor in calculating a home’s risk to an insurance company and, by extension, your rate.

3. The type of building material you use can save you a great deal in premiums. Buy a frame house if you want better resistance to earthquakes or buy a brick home for better resistance to high winds. So buying a frame home in the East will definitely cost you much more in home insurance. For people who stay in the West, they’ll spend more if they buy a brick home. Expect to save a minimum of 5% if you choose a home with the preferred material.

4. If you get a sprinkler you will get a discount. The reason for this is that a sprinkler system helps in suppressing fires. Ask your agent what you will save by doing this before you get yours because they are very expensive.

5. Don’t insure your house along with the land it is standing on as this is more expensive but needless. People who ignorantly do this pay for more insurance than would be of any benefit. You’ve made same mistake if you insured your house for the cost you bought it without checking the cost of the land it is built on and subtracting it.

If you did this quickly call your agent and review your coverage. Subtract the cost of the land and you will find out that you’ll need far less coverage.

Your Arizona homeowners insurance rate will be more affordable and you’ll still have enough coverage if you do this right. Always remember that insuring the land your house is built on is real waste of money since it does you no good whatsoever.

6. You can reduce your home insurance premium by getting and comparing quotes from at least five good quotes sites.

Get the most out of your car, by getting a reduction in your auto insurance premiums. Paying too much for your auto insurance is like flushing money down the drain – a total waste! There’s no reason to do it, everywhere people are getting multiple rate quotes.

It’s tricky to figure out how much to pay each month on your auto insurance. The concept of a deductible is foreign to many people as they don’t understand what it means and how it works. Your deductible is a limit that anything up to that amount you have to pay out of pocket.

Teenagers have it very rough. Living at home under your parents rule can be frustrating. If you want to get in a car and drive it can be ridiculously expensive. Car insurance companies consider teenagers guilty until proved innocent so they pay through the nose for auto insurance.

Live on the East Coast and plan to pay a lot for your auto premiums. The most densely populated states typically pay considerable more than the plains states. Cost of living is something many people don’t consider – but if you don’t you could pay twice as much for car insurance.

The Dakotas mean cheap living. Cost of living is a factor that put money back in your pocket so if you want to save money on truck insurance move to Iowa or a nearby state and you can get back a ton of cash in your pocket and reduced insurance fees.

How can you save money on car insurance? One of the most important things you can do is maintain a safe driving record. If you stay out of accidents and avoid speeding tickets then you may enjoy much lower auto insurance costs than your neighbor.

Stopping by the auto mechanic is very low on my idea of a good time. This routine checkup can save you hundreds of dollars on your car insurance – especially if it keeps you out of a bad collision.

Living near a big city can cost you more in insurance fees. There are more traffic related accidents in downtown areas, so if your commute takes you there then you can expect to pay more than someone who lives and works in the suburbs.

First Time Car Buyers: Car Insurance Options for Canadian Drivers

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Before you get behind the wheel of a car in Canada, you had better make sure that you are insured. Every province and territory in the country requires drivers to have car insurance, and driving without it is a costly risk, because you could lose your license as a result. Before you buy insurance, however, you need to take the time to do some research to ensure that you get the right type.

The Basic Requirements

The first thing you need to know is what you are required to have. All of the provinces and states require basic liability coverage for their drivers. This is coverage that will pay for damage you cause to someone else or his or her property. For instance, if you are involved in a car accident where you are the at-fault driver, your liability coverage would pay the medical bills and car repair bills for the other people involved in the accident. This is a common requirement in other countries.

Canadian drivers must carry an addition coverage option, because when it comes to car insurance, Canada requires Accident Benefits/Bodily Injury coverage. This coverage will take care of your medical care and any loss of income you experience after a crash, even if you are the one at fault for the injuries. In other words, if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident and no one else is liable for your injuries, this coverage will cover them.

Other Options to Consider

While you are required to have Liability and Accident Benefits/Bodily Injury coverage to drive in Canada, you may wish to have additional coverage. Neither of these Canada insurance options covers damage to your vehicle that is not caused by another vehicle or driver. They also do not cover damage to your vehicle that you caused. Natural causes are also not covered. If a tree branch fell on your car and smashed in the roof, you would be stuck paying for the repair or buying a new car without any car insurance coverage.

If you have a loan on your car, the bank will not be willing to take this risk. You will probably be forced to purchase additional car insurance for as long as you have the loan. The two additional policies that you may have to purchase if you have a loan are Collision and Comprehensive.

Damage to your car in a motor vehicle accident, even if you are completely at fault, would be covered in a Collision policy. In fact, even if you drive the vehicle into something that is not a vehicle, you would be covered with a Collision policy.

Comprehensive insurance covers non-motor-vehicle damage to your car. If your car were stolen, vandalized, or harmed by a natural disaster, this coverage would pay for the damages. That tree branch that fell on your car and smashed the roof would be an event covered by comprehensive coverage.

Considerations When Buying Coverage

When buying insurance coverage, you have to strike a delicate balance between affordable premiums and proper coverage. Some people buy too much insurance, and they end up paying more for their insurance coverage than is worthwhile when compared to the value of their car. Others buy too little insurance and end up with huge bills when they are in an accident.

How can you best determine this balance? You need to know what your car is worth. Check the Blue Book value of the car, and then compare it to the amount you are paying in premiums. If you find that you are paying close to the value in premiums over two or three years, you may wish to drop a coverage option. Put the additional money aside into a savings account, and use that money towards repairs if you end up having an accident. If you do not have an accident, use that money as a down payment on your next car purchase, rather spending thousands on auto insurance that will only provide a few hundred dollars for your vehicle.
